SHOE OF THE WEEK = The PRADA Oxblood Glitter Pumps I Didn’t Buy

So… while in Seattle, shop like the locals do?

Sure, I went to the high end stores while walking around downtown, but I also had to make a stop at Nordstrom Rack! We Canadians don’t normally have access to Nordstrom Rack, which is a designer discount store that receives its items from Nordstrom (overstock, old inventory) and then discounts it heavily for “the common people”.

I brought my visitors to the old Pine street location where I first visited, many years ago… only to find an empty storefront. The store had moved! My visitors were so disappointed, and I was upset that I had led them on, when a gentleman passing by on the sidewalk asked us if we were lost. I told him I was sad that the Nordstrom Rack had closed, and he directed me to the new store location a block away. They had merely moved. The day was saved!

I was browsing the shoe racks when these Prada Oxblood Glitter Pumps with a Gold Metal Heel caught my eye! How could they not? They sparkled and glimmered in the dim lighting. The shoe aisles were filled with Jeffrey Campbell and Cole Haan, contemporary designers, so I wasn’t expecting to find a Prada there! That’s Prraaaaa-Da, Dahling !!!! Prada has recently taken to adding a gold tone Prada logo to the bottom of every leather soled shoe. You may think it isn’t too visible, but I once saw a lady walk down the street in Prada pumps… instantly recognizable because with every step she took, the Prada gold logo flashed like a firefly.

It was marked down from $600 US to $299.97 US dollars, and although I was dearly tempted to add these Prada shoes to my collection, the sizing was way off. It was a 38, and although I usually take a 38, I could fit an entire thumb between my heel and the shoe. Now, multiple insole inserts and heel grips can do wonders, but at $300, I prefer my shoes to fit better.

It was just as well, the $300 went towards an entire luggage filled with souvenirs instead (Sephora, Tulalip Seattle Premium outlets, Victoria’s Secret, etc.). Things that can’t be purchased in Vancouver, or that were much cheaper in the States. Cross-border shopping certainly is a lot of fun.

Example: Urban Decay Primer Potion = $24 Canadian in my local Sephora stores, $7 in Nordstrom Rack in Seattle
